Multispecies Collaborator
The urban forest of La Goccia hosts a rich and resilient community of living agents that have spontaneously reclaimed the site following its industrial decline. Over 25,000 trees — including native and pioneer species such as robinia, maple, elm, and poplar — now form a dense woodland ecosystem. These plants coexist with fungi, insects, birds, mammals, and microorganisms that have formed complex interdependencies. Together, they constitute a dynamic, multispecies habitat that thrives without human intervention, playing a crucial role in soil regeneration, air purification, and biodiversity support.
