Associate Professor
Valentina Rognoli is an Associate Professor of Design at the Politecnico di Milano. She has over two decades of experience pioneering research in materials design, focusing on emerging, sustainable and regenerative practices. Her work explores biodesign, DIY culture, and materials-driven design, and she advocates for the active role of materials in the design process. She leads the Material Design for Transition Research Group, an hub for critical approaches to material innovation. Her transdisciplinary, practice-based research engages with renewable resources, waste, and living systems. She has led numerous international projects and mentors PhD students, inspiring new generations to reconsider materiality in design.
